Classroom Reading Nooks
We provide a wide range of furniture and accessories that are designed to transform your classroom reading area into a calming and pleasant space for children to work on their reading comprehension skills.
Create a cosy corner in your classroom with children’s bean bags, soft seating and kinderboxes – a great place for children to share a story, read a book or have some quiet time. Creating a relaxing and calming space with floor cushions or sofas will help encourage and develop a child’s love of books and become a place where they can let their imagination drift off into a story.
Our selection of classroom book storage offers something for all types of spaces and age ranges.
Book trolleys are ideal for school libraries in both KS1 and KS2. The easy glide castor wheels on our range of book trolleys mean that you can easily move your book storage from one classroom to another. The double-sided book display trolleys allow children easy access to books making it easy for them to choose their favourite story.
Kinderboxes are also ideal for libraries, but they work just as well in nurseries and pre-schools as they feature large bays that can house both big and small books with ease.
Book spinners and ladders have a much smaller footprint than library book trollies and Kinderboxes, making them perfect for storing books within a classroom which can have very limited space.
We supply an extensive range of library seating designed to give children the postural support they need whilst providing a comfy area to read a book and discuss the story.
From bean bag chairs and sofas to soft seating stools and armchairs, we supply a vast range of classroom reading corner furniture suitable for all age groups including nurseries, pre-schools and primary schools.
All of our classroom reading nook solutions are made in the UK and the furniture is BSEN 1729 compliant; meaning it’s safe to use within schools.
We provide an immediate 30-day credit account to all public sector organisations, including schools, colleges, universities, the NHS, local authorities and Government departments.

- Choose a corner of the classroom with good lighting to ensure students aren’t straining their eyes. Allocate a space big enough to accommodate several children, but ensure it’s enclosed enough to still feel cosy - you can do this using den products or bookshelves.
- Introduce plenty of soft materials to make the space feel inviting; these might be bean bags, classroom rugs or soft toys.
- Involve your students in decorating the space with their own drawings inspired by their favourite books.
- Choose school furniture that makes the books accessible to young students without requiring the assistance of an adult.
- Keep things fresh by not putting all of your books out at once. Rotate your library to keep students interested in ‘new’ stories.
For students, reading corners serve many purposes. Firstly, they offer quiet spaces where children can go to relax and escape more chaotic, busy areas of the classroom.
Secondly, they offer a chance for youngsters to self select their favourite books, encouraging them to express themselves and their preferences. Reading areas foster creative thinking skills and help children to improve their reading and vocabulary.
For teachers, a reading corner offers a multi-faceted space that can be used to reward well-behaved students, give a place of quiet for over-excited or over-stimulated children, and give them a way to support youngsters in their reading and literacy journey.

A good reading corner must be accessible, cosy and welcoming. The space must be large enough to accommodate several students but enclosed and comforting so it can be a safe and comfortable place for children to read and relax. The best reading corners are designed with children in mind. They are size appropriate, so students can select their own reading materials without adult interference, and they can also include a box of soft toys so children can read out loud to their toys. A good reading corner must be a place where children feel safe and comfortable.
Classroom reading corners are used primarily as locations where students can go to read and relax. They can be used as part of a ‘story time’ session for young children, where an adult reads to the entire group or they can be set up as spaces where children can go to select their own book and read privately or one-on-one with a teacher. They are typically furnished with soft chairs or bean bags for a cosy feel, and can also be helpful as ‘time out’ areas where children who are overstimulated or overexcited can go to calm down.
