Things to do in Half Term

Spring Half Term is quickly approaching, and it’s a good idea to plan some activities for the family early. A short search online can bring up some great local activities that are perfect for all ages, everything from craft fairs and fetes to more educational activities such as city tours and local theatre.

Whether you want to travel to any number of the exciting places throughout the UK, or stick closer to home, there’s no shortage of things to do this May half term. Here are a few of our recommendations!

Fun at home

Spice things up with some creativity and combine staying active with fun. For example create a treasure hunt for the whole family in the local woods which can be completed on foot or on a bike with a prize at the end for the winner, or try something new together such as diving or canoeing. New experiences will create memories for everyone.

Soft play areas are also a great way for the kids to stay active and have a great time with their friends at the same time, why not set up a day at a local soft play centre for your children and a few of their friends? It will be a welcome break from the other family oriented activities and give them a chance to spend time with their friends.

Day Trips

Day trips come in many forms, from thrill seeking theme parks to quiet and educational museums, there is something for everyone. These are the kind of days that are best booked in advance as there are often savings for pre-booking and you can also find vouchers online to save just that little bit extra. You can find vouchers on websites such as Voucher Codes.

If your child is a big animal fan why not treat them to a trip to the zoo, safari or an aquarium, an opportunity to see all of the exotic animals they wouldn’t normally see is something that they will be talking about for weeks. You could also visit local farms, at this time of year the lambs are starting to arrive which is an experience not to be missed, many farms also offer fruit and vegetable picking which is a fun way to encourage healthy eating at this time of year.

Day trips don’t have to be to a specific place however, spend a day exploring somewhere you and your family have never been before. Many towns and villages in the UK are host to many historical sites, museums, galleries and shopping centres that you would've never known about.

We hope these suggestions hope you to plan out an enjoyable and memorable week for everyone and we would love to see pictures of your half-term adventure on our Twitter or Facebook pages.
