SeaWeenies, the Wet Classroom Play Equipment

When it comes to water play, the Sea Weenies have long been a firm favourite with children.

The SeaWeenies Sand & Water Tray “brings the seaside into the classroom” and makes a useful addition to your classroom play equipment with a uniquely designed tray and a variety of educational toys designed to teach children whilst allowing them to have fun. It is designed with early education in mind and teaches children mathematics, weights and balance. It also helps them to develop their motor skills in a creative way.

The water tray is manufactured in the UK using ABS plastic which can be used with either sand or water and includes an inset lid. It is also manufactured with a plug so you can easily empty the SeaWeenies water tray for cleaning and transport. The fully welded yellow steel frame includes two castors on one end for easy transportation and storage.

The tray includes a palm tree which is designed to help children develop their fine motor skills. It has soft foam leaves and a plastic cup that tips forward when filled which helps to teach children about problem solving, capacity and filling.

Available separately or as part of the SeaWeenies bundle is a set of additional toys, these include:

SeaWeenies Water Toy Pack

Stella the Starfish teaches children about different mathematical concepts such as weight & capacity. They can fill & empty the buckets to gain a sense of measurements and size.

Ollie the wobbly octopus encourages problem solving amongst children. They will be introduced to the idea of direction, balance and capacity.

Toby the tippy turtle provides a great way of developing fine motor skills, balance, speed and an understanding of time. The different sized holes can be used to compare how long it takes for the turtle to empty.

The Finn family fishing set is designed to complement the SeaWeenies Sand & Water tray. Children will have fun catching the fish which float with only the fins above the water. This is a great way to teach hand-eye coordination and is a fun way to introduce counting and subtraction.

As children manipulate water play materials, they begin to understand why and how things happen. For example, given objects which sink or float, a child will soon discover that just because something is large in size does not mean it will sink. Children also begin to understand and experiment with concepts such as more/less, same/different, many/few, empty/full, before/after, greater than/less than, and counting.

Fine motor skills involve the use of the smaller muscles in the hands, such as doing up buttons, opening lunch boxes or using pencils or scissors. Fine motor skill efficiency significantly influences the quality of the task outcome as well as the speed of task performance. Efficient fine motor skills require a number of independent skills to work together to appropriately manipulate the object or perform the task.

Fine motor skills are essential for performing every day. Without the ability to complete these everyday tasks, a child's self-esteem can suffer and their academic performance could be compromised. They are also unable to develop appropriate independence in life skills, such as getting dressed and feeding themselves.

This product also helps to develop social and emotional skills, language and group play. The SeaWeenies trays are designed in a way that multiple trays can be slotted together, to encourage group play.

Water play is one of the most relaxing activities children can experience. Water play relieves tension by encouraging children to release their emotions. In addition, social skills expand as children play cooperatively, negotiate and share equipment, space, and materials.

Water play encourages the development of hand-eye coordination through pouring, squeezing, stirring, painting, scrubbing, and squirting. Children strengthen their gross motor skills by running, dodging water drops, and hopping through a sprinkler. They widen their sensory experiences as they put their hands in different textures and temperatures.

We provide a SeaWeenies Bundle or a SeaWeenies Tray and a SeaWeenies Toy Pack sold separately.
