Homemade Father’s Day Card Ideas

Father’s Day is fast approaching, and the organised amongst us will have already started to buy cards on behalf of their little ones. Whilst shop bought cards are nice, there’s nothing quite like a homemade card that can be treasured forever.

We recently made a video that you can watch here, showing how you can utilise our free teaching resources to help your child make a truly personal Father’s Day card.

There are nine different designs to choose from, all of which range in difficulty and intricacy depending on the age of your child and their coordination skills.

All of the cards take approximately 15 minutes to make and require only glue, scissors, coloured pens and card.

In this article we will give you a step-by-step tutorial on how to make one of our cards:

1. Go to www.earlylearningfurniture.co.uk/free-resources/and select the design you like the most.

2. Download and print off your pack and cut around the stencils. If children are too small or like a design that is too intricate, then get a grown-up to give them a hand. Alternatively, you can trace over the designs.

3. Glue the shapes in place on a piece of card.

4. Add lots of colour. Feel free to use paint and glitter if you so wish, but felt tip pens or coloured pencils will work just as well.

5. Add a message inside the card.

6. Put the card in an envelope ready for Father’s Day.

7. Give the card to dad or grandad and watch their faces light up!

If you try out any of these designs, then please do send us a photo on FacebookTwitter or Instagram. We would love to see and share your photos and inspire others.
