ELF Collects Over 1000 Presents For Christmas Present Appeal In Partnership With The Salvation Army

16 DEC 2019

We are delighted to reveal that we collected over 1,000 toys for our Christmas Present Appeal in partnership with The Salvation Army.

The appeal aims to give children living in poverty or refuge within the Peterborough area a present to open on Christmas Day because there is no guarantee that there will be something waiting for them in the morning.

The children the appeal helps span a broad range of backgrounds, including those living below the poverty line, those who have escaped domestic abuse, and those who have lost a parent.

The gifts are collected by The Salvation Army who then distribute them across the city.

Last year, we collected over 600 presents, but we knew that it wouldn’t be enough to help every child in need. We are over the moon to have collected even more presents this year, but again, we know it’s sadly not enough.

With many of our team being parents themselves, this appeal really hits home.

Seeing so many members of our team donate presents, as well as our suppliers, friends, family and people within the community has been overwhelming. It’s lovely to see so many people getting involved; we even had a visit from a primary school.

After the collection was over, the Salvation Army came in and collected all the toys. We then had the opportunity to go back with them to see where the toys go and how they’re sorted. It’s a mammoth task, but the team do such a great job. Without them, the appeal wouldn’t be possible, and hundreds of children would go without.

We are thrilled to have collected so many gifts and would like to thank every single person who donated. You’ve all made a real difference.
